Korean Wedding Ceremony

Having the fortune of photographing Jenny and Eric’s wedding in itself is an honor, let alone their traditional Korean wedding ceremony, as other than us, it was only open to close family.

Jenny and Eric are delightful people, we’ll just put that out there now, who’ll swirl you into their bright circle of gravity should you be so lucky.  It’s in our fortunes then, that Katherine is obsessed with all things Korean, due in part to half of her heritage, so that when they invited us to photograph the section of their wedding day set aside for the family traditional Korean wedding ceremony, we jumped at the chance.

Read the full story after the images below, where the bride and groom share in how they made their ceremony special…

What Made Our Wedding Creative

“It was so personal to me because my 80 yr old grandmother brought all the clothing and jewelry from Korea. Because some stones on the headpiece are real gems, she hand-carried it, and I was told that she never let it out of her sight nor her hands. :P  She had bought the ceremony attire from a person who hand embroidered everything for her first son who got married in the late 1970s. And since then, all of her 4 sons and their wives wore them, and a year an a half ago, my cousin and his wife were the first ones to carry that tradition on to our generation. I expect my younger sister and my other cousins who get married, to be wearing what we just wore. I feel my grandmother’s special love, and also it makes me think of all the members of my family when I look at the traditional clothing.”

Our Favorite Moment

“Piggy back ride was fun.  And also biting each side of the date facing each other. The point was to pull back, and see who had the part of the date with the seed. I heard the seed represents who will have more power in the marriage. lol. and guess who got the seed? ME. :)”

Advice

“Enjoy the wedding day, be reminded of all the LOVE that you’ve received from your family and friends and be grateful and blessed!”
