We’re so excited to offer our first ever photography workshop, here in our home town. It’s a one day shooting workshop on the streets of Alameda on Sunday, July 29th. This happens to be the day of the biggest street festival of the year, so there will be plenty to photograph and enjoy throughout the experience. There is a maximum of ten spaces available.
We’ll be focusing on multiple topics from the documentary perspective. Portraits and emotion, composition and color, edges of the frame, capturing a story, and seeing the light.
The workshop investment includes:
- Personal instruction by Douglas Despres throughout the day
- Coffee and light breakfast fare at Blue Danube coffee house
- Optional evening photo editing and critique at Doug’s home studio
- Three selected images from the workshop and your photographic bio published on the official Helios Images Journal
We’ll start by meeting early at the Blue Danube
on Park Street at 9am, where we’ll have introductions and a light breakfast, then photograph along the streets, beaches, and storefronts that make up the melting pot of Alameda. The festival on that day, will be the base focus, offering fantastic photographic opportunities until it’s end in late afternoon. At 5pm, all participants will have the opportunity to join Doug at his home studio in Alameda for a few hours. He will give personal guidance and critique on the images that everyone created that day. Having a portable laptop and editing software is highly suggested to take full advantage of this opportunity.
Investment is $98, and full amount is needed to secure your spot. Refunds are available up to 30 days in advance, and after that, the amount is non-refundable but can be credited towards a future workshop. Click below to reserve your spot!
